I was so appalled when I read this story. Many of you know I have personally suffered abuse and discrimination due to the fact I am a mother of a young child that will not endanger my child's welfare. (I refused to wean my child in order to serve jury duty and was threatened with CPS.) Naturally, then, I have a deep sympathy for mothers with young children who are mistreated. I read this story about a woman who was kicked off a plane because her toddler was talking too much!!! Not crying, throwing a fit, or yelling, just chattering and saying the same phrase over and over. (Sounds like just about every toddler I've ever come in contact with!) Trust me, if there was a miracle cure for stopping a kid from saying the same thing over and over and over and over, I would have bought the economy size bottle for Elianna. The part that made me the angriest was the quote, "It's called Baby Benadryl." Well, I hate to break it to this Einstein Flight attendant (who must be gorgeous since she was clearly not hired for her brains) but there is no such thing as Baby Benadryl! In fact, giving Benadryl to children under SIX years old is not recommended. Elianna just had a pretty bad allergic reaction, broke out in hives, the whole kaboodle, and they told me not to give her Benadryl! (They said she was too young, and in rare cases it can accelerate their heart to the point of putting them into cardiac arrest!!!) So, if some bimbo told me to give this to my child just to stop her talking... I'd list a few medications she could take, starting with Midol Extra Strength.

Take a Stand

In a day when it is getting increasingly frowned upon to take a stand against the homosexual lifestyle, we conservative Christians need to be willing to defend our beliefs. The American Family Association is circulating a petition countering legislative efforts to make teaching against homosexuality a hate crime. I personally don't care what people do in the privacy of their bedroom, but don't push your lifestyle on me or try to force me to accept it. We Christians are so often accused of pushing our beliefs down people's throats, when in fact I think we are very often the ones suffering from people's intolerance. I suppose tolerance is only for perverts, artists, wife-beaters, etc..., not us "crazed" Bible-thumpers. If you disagree with me and think I'm a right-wing religious nut, well, that's okay with me. Just be sure to extend to me all the freedoms you are so willing to give to others.

P.S. As I've mentioned before, I like to use Snopes.com to look up the background of many of the e-mails I receive. Snopes has this petition and the supporting stories labeled as "false." The AFA isn't perfect, and can get a little carried away like all activist sites. (But then again, you should see some of the pro-gay activists! They aren't exactly saints, to put it mildly.) Memorial Day

Our pastor served two tours in Vietnam, but he rarely talks about it. He may mention a story here or there, but for the most part you can tell it is something he does not enjoy reliving. Maybe that is why it made this story so much more poignant.

Why didn't I die in Vietnam? He asked that question, and there was just silence. I served in the Marine Corps. We did our duty, all of us, but some got blown up, some got killed or maimed for life. Why didn't I die in Vietnam? Why did God let me live, while I watched the guy on my right get his arm blown off and the guy on my left's head blew up. We were all doing what we were supposed to be doing, but some never returned, or returned scarred. I asked myself over and over why God chose to let me live, and why he took the next guy. When they were airlifting me out, bullets were whizzing at the helicopter. Some guys were even shot as they were leaving, and I wondered if God had preserved me this long only to die in the helicopter on my way out. I survived the flight, and was so excited to be going home. My son had been born the day after I shipped out, and he was 15 months old before I ever saw him in person. I stepped onto American soil, and there were crowds waiting to meet me. Crowd carrying signs and chanting "Baby Killers!" It took me three days to get a flight home, since they were bumping anyone in uniform first. I refused to take off my uniform. I chose to wait. All I tried to do was my duty, and people treated me like a criminal, a murderer. Let's make sure that doesn't happen again.

That was all he said. By this point in the story, we were all teary-eyed. I'm so glad we have come a long way as a country since the Vietnam War as far as not punishing the military when we disagree with the government. No matter what your viewpoint is on the war or politics in general, let's support the men and women in uniform who are doing their duty. They've sacrificed so much, let's honor them and let them know HOW MUCH we appreciate them!

Creation Museum

This looks really cool - I have read a few of Ken Ham's books and have really enjoyed his work. I also get a laugh out of the opposition (and condescending tone of the journalism) toward the Creationist Scientists. It cracks me up how, even though evolution is the more widely taught and supported, they just can't handle anyone putting forth an alternate opinion. Really, if you're that strong in what you believe, why should you care if someone else makes a museum of what they believe? There was also a video link on the left side, see if you can find it. It was really interesting. I'd love to see this museum!
